Vulnerable/Confidence Sessions

These sessions have really proved popular within schools and on an increasing scale.  It has especially shown great results with the SEN (Special Educational Needs) for behaviour.  We recommend that the children are taught on a weekly basis for a term, numbers over 12 are recommended.  The more diverse on age, height, ability, confidence, the better as it enables children to work together to produce results.

Curriculum (Gokyo) Covered:          
  • Respect, of others, peers, Sensei, teacher
  • Control of own emotions when throwing and groundwork
  • Judo rolling breakfalls (Mae Mawari Ukemi)
  • Judo side breakfalls (Yoko Ukemi)
  • Judo rear breakfalls (Ushiro Ukemi)
  • Basic throwing techniques (O Soto Otoshi)
  • Basic groundwork techniques (Kesa Gatame)
  • Judo games in order to aid hand-eye co-ordination, agility and fun!
Additionally:
  • More Judo games are played as rewards
  • Red/Purple belts are awarded each week as an incentive for the children to take home and look after for a week
  • Register is kept
  • End of term report on Red Belt winners and on children's progress within the sessions




N.B. 45 mins either side of the session will be needed for setup and packing away of the mats
